Ana María Aguirre (Bolivia) is an environmental engineer from the EMI Military Engineering School (Bolivia).
She began her professional career with the Autonomous Departmental Government of El Alto, where she undertook Environmental Impact Assessments on infrastructure and hydraulic works projects, among others. She currently works as the Technical Officer for Socioenvironmental Management of Activities, Works and Projects for the Comprehensive National Park and Natural Area Monitoring Program for Integrated Management of the Madidi National Park.
She mainly works with local stakeholders and indigenous communities within the protected area, training them on environmental management and regulations by providing environmental education workshops in coordination with the Madidi Park wardens. She also revises and evaluates environmental documents from a technical standpoint for projects to be undertaken within the protected area and constantly updates the Environmental Action Plan with all new activities, works or projects identified within the protected area and its immediate areas of influence with an impact thereon.
As part of her master’s degree, she completed an internship at the Garajonay National Park on the island of Gomera.
